Furman Intercollegiate Round 1 Results Get Acrobat Reader

Greenville, S.C. - Playing through a steady rain on Saturday morning, Western Carolina men's golf stands tied for seventh out of the 19-team field at the Furman Intercollegiate from the par 72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Club. The second round, which was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been cancelled as the tournament has been reduced to 36 holes.

The final round will commence at 8:00 am on Sunday morning with tee times. WCU, which shot 303 to stand tied with arch-rival Appalachian State, will take to the course on the back nine at Noon.

Freshman Martin Summer carded a one-over 73 on Saturday morning to pace the Catamounts, tied for eighth-place in the 114-golfer field. Seniors Dustin Furnari (76) and Andres Cuenca (77) stand tied for 27th and 33rd, respectively, while junior Ricky Stout stands even with Cuenca after a five-over 77. Rounding out WCU's score is junior Tanner Briele who is tied for 62nd with an opening round 79.

Playing as individuals, freshman Kyle Wilson and junior Drew Miller posted opening rounds of 81 to stand tied for 87th overall.

Furman's Daniel Bowden posted a three-under 69 to lead a four-way tie for second by two strokes after the opening 18 holes.

Univ. of North Florida posted a team eight-over, 296, to lead Virginia Tech (297) by a stroke and holds a two-stroke edge over third-place, East Carolina (298). Host Furman is fourth, five strokes in arrears, with Troy and Wofford tied for fifth-place.
