The Western Carolina men's golf team, playing its second tournament of the spring, placed sixth in a 19-team field at the annual Winthrop Waterford Invitational. The Catamounts were led by Tim Eckberg, who carded a two-day total of 146 to place fifth.
Charleston Southern fired a five-over 581 to win the team title, while Winthrop's Matt Johnson had rounds of 71-70 oon the par 72 gof course to win individual medalist honors.
Western Carolina will retuirn to action at the 34th annual Furman Intercollegiate Golf Tournament, which runs from March 21-23.
