UPDATE: Completing the last remaining holes of the second round this morning, WCU remains in a tie for 10th place after shooting 299 collectively in round two ... Kyle Wilson is tied for 15th with a two-round score of two-over, 146, with J.T. Poston tied for 24th with rounds of 73 and 75 for a 36-hole score of 148.

The third and final round is underway in Hoover, Ala. Complete results will be made available later in the day on Tuesday.

Hoover, Ala. - Senior Kyle Wilson carded an opening round even-par 72 on Monday to lead Western Carolina in a two-way tie for 10th-place at the Samford Intercollegiate being held at the par-72, 7,001-yard Hoover Country Club. The Catamounts shot 302 in the first round, sitting tied with Tennessee Tech just six strokes outside of the Top 5.

Enduring an hour-long frost delay on Monday, the 18-team, 94-golfer field was unable to complete competition in the second round leaving approximately four holes to be played on Tuesday morning before the final round will commence. Complete results from the 54-hole event will be made available at the conclusion of play on Tuesday.

Wilson and sophomore teammate J.T. Poston were tied for fourth in par-3 scoring after the first round, sitting tied for 10th and 16th, respectively, on the individual leader board. Poston was one-stroke in arrears of his teammate after shooting 73 on Monday entering the second 18 holes.

Rounding out WCU's scoring five on Monday were sophomore Matthew Turner (78) in a tie for 61st, senior Steven Smith (79) and redshirt sophomore Collin Witiak (79) tied for 69th. Turner is competing in just his second event this season, playing unattached as an individual at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley last fall.

Vanderbilt paced the field after the opening round with a first-round, one-under par 287 as a team, leading fellow Southeastern Conference member, Auburn (291), in the runner-up spot by four strokes. Furman is third-place, one stroke behind the Tigers at 292 with Georgia Southern (295) and a two-way tie between Montevallo (296) and Winthrop (296) rounding out the top five.

Tournament host - and SoCon foe - Samford shot 298 as a team to sit just ahead of the Catamounts after 18 holes.

Ashton Van Horne of Belmont held a one-stroke edge over a three-way tie for second after shooting a three-under 69 in round one. Samford's Casey O'Toole, Hunter Stewart of Vandy and Preston Cole from Furman each shot two-under 70 to sit tied for second after 18 holes.

Teams will complete the second round on Tuesday morning before tackling the third round to complete the event.
