Argonaut Invitational Results - Round 2 Get Acrobat Reader

Pensacola, Fla. - Junior Ricky Stout carded a two-over 146 through the first two rounds of the spring season-opening Argonaut Invitational on Monday to lead the Catamounts to sixth place at the par 72, 6,815-yard Pensacola Country Club.

Western Carolina posted rounds of 299 and 297, respectively, to stand 10 strokes in arrears of fifth-place James Madison. First-round leader Liberty is tied with Virginia at three-over, 579, with golfers from the United States Air Force Academy in third, two strokes back at 581. Washington State is third at 582, four strokes ahead of JMU.

Tom Whitney of Air Force posted consecutive rounds of three-under, 69, and six-under 66, for a 146 to lead the 71-golfer field by six strokes over the second-place tie of West Florida's Kyle Scott and Virginia's Will Collins at three-under, 141.

Stout, who ranks tied for third in par 4 scoring at one-under (3.95), carded an opening round of 76 before firing a team-low, two-under 70 in the second round to stand in a three-way tie for ninth. Junior transfer Tanner Briele is tied for 18th with a four-over 148, with senior Andres Cuenca two strokes back in a tie for 29th after a two-round score of 150.

Rounding out Western's five are junior Drew Miller (t-49th, 155) and senior Dustin Furnari (t-55th, 158).

Led by a tournament-high tying 26 pars by Briele, the Catamounts rank third with 109 par scores through 36 holes.

The third and final round is set to begin with tee times at 8:00 am, with the first Catamount golfer, Furnari, to start on the 10th hole at 9:10. Stout will hit the course on No. 10 at 9:50 am.
