Cullowhee, N.C. -
Western Carolina has employed the services of DHR International - an executive search firm - to aid in the hiring process of its next head football coach.
"We have obtained the services of DHR due the large number of applicants for the position and the need to be very thorough in the search," said WCU Director of Athletics, Chip Smith. "They will be responsible for coordinating and researching the applicants."
DHR International, Inc., was founded in January 1989 and houses its corporate headquarters in Chicago, Ill. It is ranked the fifth largest search firm in the U.S., and is among the top 10 in world revenue, and number one in office location and geographic coverage. DHR is known as the fastest growing firm in the industry with over 40 offices nationwide.
Once the candidate pool is narrowed by DHR, Smith will make the final decision on a head coach, which must also garner the approval of Western Chancellor Dr. John Bardo and the WCU Board of Trustees.
WCU has been in the market for a new coach since mid-November when former coach Kent Briggs was reassigned within the University following the season finale against Furman. Assistant coach John Scott was retained from the previous staff and is currently handling all day-to-day operations of the Catamount football program.
