Jeff Bradley, Mitchell Bell Recognized by SoCon Sports Media Association

Nov. 26, 2008

Cullowhee, N.C. - One day after garnering All-Southern Conference accolades from the league's head coaches, senior Jeff Bradley and sophomore Mitchell Bell each garnered second team defense all-conference plaudits today from the SoCon Sports Media Association.

Bradley, who was a preseason All-SoCon selection, led the Catamount defensive linemen with 31 tackles including 15 solo stops and nine tackles for loss. It is the second-straight year that the Lewisville, N.C., native was honored on the second team by the media group. Bradley also recorded a pair of sacks on the season despite receiving both double and triple teams from opposing offensive lines. He also recovered a team-high four fumbles on the season, nearly returning one for a score in the home win over Chattanooga.

Bradley concluded his WCU career with 28 career tackles for loss, just outside WCU's career top 10 list.

Bell led the Catamount defense with five interceptions, including one in each of the final four games of the season. His five picks were the most for a Catamount defender since 2000 when Justin Fryer intercepted seven. The Warner Robbins, Ga., native ranked fourth on the team with 59 total tackles including 36 solo stops and two for losses.

Bell posted a career-high nine tackles in the home loss to Georgia Southern in late October. Also on the season, he blocked a kick and recovered a pair of fumbles.
