Adrian McLeod Named Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week

Nov. 24, 2008

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina football's junior linebacker Adrian McLeod was named Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week as released by the conference office.

McLeod led Western Carolina's defense with a career-best 17 tackles, including eight solo stops and 3.5 for loss against Appalachian State. The 17 tackles were the most by a Catamount in a single-game this season.

He set up a second quarter takeaway as McLeod deflected quarterback DeAndre Presley's pass that was intercepted by teammate Mitchell Bell and led to a WCU field goal that gave the Catamounts a 10-7 halftime advantage. The junior also posted his first sack of the season on a delayed blitz, tackling Presley for an eight-yard loss in the third quarter.
