Cullowhee, N.C. - Tim Wisner, of Sanford, N.C., is the final recipient of four free tickets to a Catamount home game after his question was picked in the weekly ÒAsk Kent BriggsÓ promotion. Wisner, who has won tickets to the Appalachian State game, asked Western's first-year coach, ÒWhat is the impact for the WCU football program in having the App State game televised?Ó

Coach Briggs's reply was the following. ÒPlaying at home before a television audience is a great opportunity for Western Carolina University to showcase its program. The tremendous improvements to our facilities we are going through can be higlighted and brought to the attention of recruits and supporters. With a great game and a good presentation from the Fox Sports Net South crew, the enthusiasm for Western can be seen by many people. Recruits can also see the type of offense and defense we run. They can also evaluate their opportunity to step in and play in the toughest I-AA conference in America.Ó

Western wraps the 2002 regular-season when it hosts Appalachian State at 3:30 pm, a game which will be telecast on Fox Sports Net South. WCU fans are encouraged to come early to give Western's 13 seniors a proper send-off in the last game they put on a Catamount uniform. WCU fans are also asked to show their ÒPurple PrideÓ in support of the Cats. Purple Pride t-shirts are available in the WCU athletics department, online at www.catamountsports.com, the WCU bookstore, Simple T's and WNC SportsZone in Franklin and Waynesville.

The Western Carolina Department of Athletics would like to thank all those who participated this season in the ÒAsk Kent BriggsÓ promotion.
