Cullowhee, N.C. - Winners of four-straight on the season, 22nd-ranked Western Carolina travels to Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C., to face No. 5 Wofford Terriers on Saturday afternoon with kickoff at 1:30 pm.
The final two unbeaten teams in Southern Conference play this year square-off as WCU is 4-1 overall on the year with a lone loss to FBS-member, Hawai'i, and a 2-0 league mark, while Wofford is undefeated at 4-0 overall, also 2-0 in SoCon play.
Fans can follow Saturday's game on the Catamount Sports Network with air time of the Pepsi Pregame Show at 12:30 pm ahead of the 1:30 pm kickoff. Wofford's production can also be seen on ESPN3. Tickets in the WCU section can be purchased through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center or by phone at (800) 34-GOWCU.
WCU has won two of the past three series meetings with Wofford despite falling in Cullowhee last fall, 31-19. The Catamounts were victorious in their last venture into Gibbs Stadium, upending the Terriers, 24-17, in 2015 to halt what was an eight-game road losing skid to the Terriers. In that win, WCU capitalized on five Wofford turnovers.
In a season that has been filled with streak-busting for WCU, this Saturday offers yet another chance to continue that trend. Among the national rankings for the first time since 2006, the Catamounts will look to halt a six-game winless drought as a ranked team. WCU's last victory while a ranked team came back in October of 1994, a 33-7 road win at VMI.
Catamount head coach Mark Speir reflects on last weekend's road win at Chattanooga before turning his attention to this week's showdown with nationally-ranked Wofford in this week's installment of "Catamount Football Weekly."
