Western Carolina held its annual Media Day on Saturday afternoon, donning the game "purple & gold" for the first-time this preseason for team and position photos. Players conducted interviews for use this season during radio broadcasts on the Catamount Sports Network, as well as video interviews with Catamount All-Access which will be featured during the video streaming of each one of the six home dates this fall. The producers of "The Dennis Wagner Show," on WNCTelevision.com were also on hand collecting video for use during the 2011 season.
Continuing preparations for Thursday's 2011 season-opener at Georgia Tech, the Catamounts practiced on the natural grass fields adjacent to Whitmire Stadium before breaking for lunch. The squad returned around 2 pm for Media Day activities which culminated in the traditional "Rookie Show."
WCU's closed practice sessions continue on Sunday afternoon. The Catamounts open the 2011 season with a pre-Labor Day Weekend trip to Atlanta, Ga., to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
