Catamount Gridiron Notes: Football Season Tickets, Road Kickoffs

June 11, 2013

Cullowhee, N.C. - As the summer months roll along towards the fall, it won't be long until the sounds of whistles and popping pads return to the turf playing surface at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field.

Second-year head coach Mark Speir returns a youthful "pride" of Catamounts this fall including four players that landed on the Southern Conference's All-Freshman team. Those returning sophomores include running back Darius Ramsey and Troy Mitchell on offense and defensive backs Sertonuse Harris and Jaleel Lorquet.

"I was thrilled with the atmosphere our students, alumni and community created in Whitmire Stadium in 2012. We need to build upon that in 2013," said Speir. "We are driven by the support of `Catamount Nation' and need you in Cullowhee."

Returning season ticket holders have the first opportunity to renew their same seats for the 2013 season before the entire stadium will be released to the general public. A correspondence relaying the information for those individuals able to renew season tickets at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field has been sent out with the rapidly approaching deadline of July 1.

Season ticket prices for the five-game home schedule start at $70 for an adult general admission ticket, $35 for a youth ages 3-12. Season tickets are just $110 for reserved seating for an adult, $55 for youth. Contact the WCU Athletic Ticket Office for special first-time season ticket holder incentives.

Purchasing season tickets also allows fans to secure tickets before single-game sales begin on August 19.

Fans can also be a part of the Catamount road team by purchasing tickets for away games through the WCU Athletic Ticket Office to secure seats in the Western Carolina sections at opposing team stadiums. WCU football season ticket holders, or those who purchase mini-plans, are able to purchase tickets through WCU to the historic "Battle for the Old Mountain Jug" game in Boone (Nov. 23) with seats in the reserved Catamount fan section.

For more information or to purchase season tickets, contact Corinne Hahn, Athletic Ticket Manger, by calling (828) 227-2401.

Road Game Kickoff Times Starting to be Unveiled
Although the kickoff time for WCU's Thursday night (August 29, 2013) season-opener at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has yet to be announced, the start times for several of Western Carolina's 2013 road games are also starting to fill in. The Catamounts' first-ever meeting with Virginia Tech in week two of the season will kick off at 1:30 pm while WCU's first road SoCon game at Samford has a 3:00 pm ET / 2:00 pm CT kickoff.

As the calendar flips to October, WCU visits Chattanooga for a night game under the lights at Finley Stadium with a 6:00 pm kickoff. The remaining two league road games against future Sun Belt Conference opponents will have afternoon starts - 2:00 pm at Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga., and 3:30 pm in Boone against archrival Appalachian State.

WCU will announce the start times of its five 2013 Cullowhee home dates in the coming weeks.
