The Western Carolina Catamount football team wraps up its spring drills on Saturday (April 20) with the annual Spring Game, presented by Wells Fargo at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field. The free event is scheduled to start just before 1:00 pm with fans encouraged enter the stadium early for a special, on-field team introduction.
Fans can follow Saturday's final spring practice session and scrimmage online through Catamount All-Access video streaming free of charge through CatamountSports.com.
The full day of activities kickoff at 9:30 am with three and a half hours of tailgating on-campus in Cullowhee. The Stadium Lot and a portion of the Creek Lot is reserved for Catamount Club members by permit, with parking and general tailgating available in the remainder of the Creek Lot, as well as the lots around Camp Lab, Belk Building and the Bardo Fine & Performing Arts Center. Student tailgating can take place in reserved locations in the Field House Lot.
Fans will want to be in the stadium for a special team introduction beginning around 1:00 pm with the final intrasquad scrimmage of the spring commencing just after 1:10 pm. The day will include a post-game "meet & greet" with the players and coaches where fans can meet their favorite Catamount and get autographs.
Saturday's scrimmage will pit the offense against the defense in a series of scrimmage scenarios, but will not have any particular scoring system. The offense will wear WCU's home, all-purple look while the defense will wear the road white jersey over gold pants.
Football's Spring Game is just one of four, on-campus events taking place on Saturday, April 20 on WCU's Cullowhee campus. The Catamount volleyball team holds a three-team, three-match spring tournament in the Ramsey Center Auxiliary Gymnasium beginning at 10:00 am. The Catamount softball team will play a Saturday double-header on Senior Day at the Catamount Softball Complex with first pitch of game one set for 1:00 pm. And finally, the WCU baseball team hosts Georgia Southern in game two of its three-game SoCon series at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium.
Catamount softball, volleyball and the football Spring Game, presented by Wells Fargo, are all free of charge.
