Coach Mode: Register for the 'Catamount Play Call Challenge'

March 26, 2014

Cullowhee, N.C. - Have you ever sat in the stadium on a brisk fall afternoon - or simply from the comfort of your living room recliner - and felt you could come up with the perfect football play call? Have you ever wanted to try your hand at coaching and call the plays during a football game?

Well, here's your chance.

On Saturday, April 12, two lucky Catamount fans will be chosen to be on the field and call a series of plays during Western Carolina's annual Spring Game scrimmage, presented by Wells Fargo.

The two fans selected will be in the huddle to call a series of three plays. To look the part, the two contestants will be awarded a coaches' shirt and hat. One fan will be chosen to call the offensive plays, while the other orchestrates the defense looking for the stop. The two fans will have the opportunity to pick from several types of play calls that the Catamount coaching staff has created.

The object is simple - the offense is looking to move the chains while the defense looks to get off the field with the three-and-out stop. Besides bragging rights with all of you friends, the coaching contestants will battle for an autographed WCU team football and a $25 gift certificate to Dunkin' Donuts in Sylva.

To register for the first "Catamount Play Call Challenge" promotion, simply tell us why you should be selected as the special series coach via Western Carolina Catamounts Facebook, Twitter (@Catamounts) or by E-mail to WCU Director of Marketing, Brett Metcalf, ( Fans of all ages are eligible for the promotion with the registration deadline at 3:00 pm on April 4th.
