Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina and adidas have entered into a two-year partnership in which the Portland, Ore., based company will be the official athletic footwear, apparel and accessory brand of Catamount football for the 2014 and 2015 football seasons.

WCU returns to adidas which the football team used for uniforms and footwear during the 2008 through 2011 seasons. The Catamount men's basketball team has been a partner with adidas since 2005 with both the WCU women's soccer and volleyball teams also wearing adidas uniforms.

"This agreement with adidas allows our football student-athletes to have access to the highest quality athletic apparel in the market place today," said Randy Eaton, Western Carolina Director of Athletics. "We look forward to establishing apparel partnerships for all of our athletic programs in the very near future."

adidas will supply the Catamount football team with new home and road uniforms, as well as travel and sideline apparel over the next two seasons.

"We are proud to welcome Western Carolina football back to the adidas family," said Mark Daniels, director of team sports for adidas America. "We look forward to providing lightweight adizero cleats and revolutionary TECHFIT uniforms to the Catamounts next season helping them play faster, lighter and stronger."

Western Carolina head football coach Mark Speir echoed the excitement from adidas on the two-year partnership.

"A lot of the top college football programs in America are wearing adidas, one of the premier clothing companies. We see many positives in being with a company that can outfit us from top-to-bottom in terms of uniforms and footwear," Speir said. "What was most exciting to us was that adidas pursued Western Carolina University and sees the value of WCU being one of their schools."

He added, "We demand the most and demand a lot out of our players; this will reward our players by putting them in top-of-the-line apparel."
