With the win ...
- Western Carolina extended its current series win streak against VMI to 15-straight including a seventh-consecutive road victory against the Keydets, both dating back to 1991;
- WCU claimed its third road victory of the 2017 season, the most since also winning three back in 2002;
- The Catamounts recorded their 22nd all-time victory as a nationally-ranked team -- and just the eighth coming away from Cullowhee;
- Western Carolina's win coupled with Wofford's loss to Samford and Furman's victory over Mercer moved the Catamounts into a three-way tie for first-place atop the SoCon standings, each at 4-1 overall ... Samford is half a game back at 3-1;

Post-Game Notes:
- Quarterback Tyrie Adams continued his streak of tossing at least one TD pass in each game this season, finding the end zone on a 29-yard pitch and catch to Terryon Robinson in the second quarter;

- Adams tossed his 15th TD pass of the 2017 season, matching his total from a year ago in a season that saw him earn Southern Conference Freshman of the Year accolades ... Adams has 30 career touchdown passes ... As a team, WCU has 16 passing scores this year including one by back-up QB Ray Smith;

- Redshirt senior WR Terryon Robinson hauled in a game-high nine passes for 91 yards at VMI ... It was his eighth career game of recording nine-or-more receptions;

- Robinson now has 2,613 career receiving yards, moving into seventh in program history ... Robinson moved past former Catamount wide receiver standout Kerry Hayes who had 2,608 yards from 1991-94 ... Robinson is now just 46 yards shy of sixth-place Craig Aiken (2,654 from 1991-94);

- Junior placekicker Joshua Gibson split the uprights on a career-high four field goals on Saturday including two of 40-or-more yards with a career-long 43-yarder in the fourth quarter ... Gibson's four successful field goals represented an individual high for a Catamount since Chris Vought connected on four field goals against Liberty back on Aug. 31, 2002 ... Gibson finished with 14 points scored in WCU's victory;

- Junior tailback Corey Holloway scored his sixth rushing touchdown of the season on Saturday, capping scoring with a two-yard rush ... It was his sixth rushing TD of the year giving WCU three backs -- Holloway, Detrez Newsome, and Donnavan Spencer -- with six-or-more rushing TDs on the year ... the Catamounts have scored 21 touchdowns on the ground this season, one shy of matching the most for WCU over the last decade -- 22 back in both 2014 and 2012 ... WCU's single-season school benchmark for rushing touchdowns is 25 back in 2001;

- Earning the start in the secondary, Shamon Elliott came away with one of WCU's two interceptions in the win ... One of five Catamounts with interceptions this season, Elliott took the team lead with his third pick of the year ... Senior Tra Hardy added his first pick of the year in the winning effort as WCU has a +2 turnover margin -- three gained, one lost;
