#8 Georgia Southern 45, Western Carolina 13
Western Carolina Head Football Coach, Mark Speir
"We played a very good football team in Georgia Southern. All the turnover troubles they had been having, they didn't have one today. I thought there were some positive things for three quarters, the guys played hard. I was very disappointed by the way we were played in the fourth quarter. Defensively, we got wore down; guys started doing things to just try and make plays and that made it worse. Our guys have to learn to fight for four quarters. We aren't going to be a good football team until we learn to finish fourth quarters."
On platooning quarterbacks during the first half scoring drive:
"We are still trying to find the best 11 football players to put on the field; who is going to spark us. Troy [Mitchell] and Eddie [Sullivan] are both good football players, they each bring different qualities to the table. Troy missed a couple of throws downfield that he could of hit. Troy is a more aggressive downhill runner then Eddie is. Eddie has a little bit more shiftiness in him.
On learning from the defeat, moving forward as a team:
"We are trying to develop a football team. It is about us getting better and building a foundation. It's not about the record. I was pleased about what happened in the first three quarters and just a lump in your throat in the third quarter. We have to learn from this and keep sticking to the plan. We can't give up and quit on these kids - and we're not, we won't."
