With the Loss...
- Western Carolina dropped its 23rd-straight game in Southern Conference play dating back to the 2010 season ... It was also the 17th-straight road loss overall and the 11th-consecutive road defeat in road play;

- The Catamounts lost for the 10th-straight time to the Samford Bulldogs, keeping the Catamounts winless against the Bulldogs since 1969.

Post-Game Notes:
- After rushing for a WCU quarterback record eight touchdowns a season ago, Catamount QB Troy Mitchell recorded his FIRST rushing score of 2013 on Saturday afternoon, scampering in from 29 yards out in the second quarter ... Mitchell has nine career rushing TDs, tied for the most career rushing scores among the active players;

- WCU quarterback Troy Mitchell threw for 202 yards at Samford, the second-most passing yards of his career ... It is the second-straight game Mitchell has 200-or-more yards passing;

- Catamount kicker Richard Sigmon improved to 4-for-5 (80.0%) on field goal attempts this season ... Sigmon remained perfect from 29-yards or closer (4-for-4) this year;

- The 62 points allowed on Saturday were the third-most allowed by WCU in Southern Conference play.

Career Numbers Update:
- Freshman wide receiver Willie Police matched his career-high, recording four catches for the third time this season while posting a career-best 53 receiving yards ... WCU tight end Michael Helms Jr., led WCU with 79 yards receiving including a career-long 65-yard reception;



- Junior Shaun Warren tallied his ninth career rushing touchdown - and third of the season - scoring from five yards out in the fourth quarter on Saturday afternoon;

- WCU redshirt freshman wide receiver Seth Curtis recorded the first catches of his collegiate career on Saturday ... the Murphy, N.C., native finished with two receptions for 34 yards.

Miscellaneous Notes:
- Western Carolina's team captains for Saturday afternoon's game were: redshirt junior defensive back #28 Ace Clark; senior punter #38 Clark Sechrest; senior offensive lineman #52 Quevalas Murray; and senior offensive lineman #72 Vince Williams... Western Carolina won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.
