- Represents WCU's third-straight victory in its home-opener at Whitmire Stadium / Waters Field ... the Catamounts improved to 32-11 all-time in home-openers since joining the Southern Conference in 1976 ... WCU has won 14 of its 17 home-opening games since 2000;

- Redshirt freshman quarterback Tyrie Adams set a WCU school-record with 510 yards of total offense including a career-best 427 yards passing and a career-high 83 yards rushing ... the previous record holder was David Rivers who amassed 495 vs. Wofford in 2000;

- Adams had a career-high five touchdown passes in Saturday's game including his first-career scoring strike to Terryon Robinson midway through the first quarter ... Adams' five TD passes tied a school record for most touchdown passes in a game as he became the fourth to do so ... Prior to Adams, Troy Mitchell was the most-recent Catamount quarterback to throw five TD's in a game, doing so against VMI in 2014;

- Adams' 427 yards passing was just 47 shy of a school record (474 by David Rivers vs. Wofford, 2000) and his 36 completions were just 10 shy of Troy Mitchell's record set at South Florida in 2014;

- Redshirt senior Spearman Robinson posted career-highs in receptions (13) and receiving yards (157) in Saturday's win over Gardner-Webb ... It was his fifth career 100-yard receiving performance ... Robinson also had two touchdown receptions surpassing his total for all of last season ... Robinson now has 15 career receiving scores

- Robinson was joined over the century mark receiving by redshirt sophomore WR Jordan Mathis who tallied a career-best six catches for 117 receiving yards ... Mathis more than doubled his career reception total, entering Saturday's game with four career catches;

- WCU had two, 100-yard receivers in the win over Gardner-Webb, marking the first time since the Samford win in 2015 when Steffon Hill (6 for 119 yards) and Tyler Sexton (6 for 102 yards);

- Junior running back Detrez Newsome scored his 20th career rushing touchdown early in the first quarter on a 52-yard romp on fourth-and-short ... Newsome moved into a tie for 10th all-time in the WCU record book, matching former Catamount backs, Carlton Terry (20, 1987-90) and Melvin Dorsey (20, 1981-83);

- Newsome finished with 148 yards rushing in the winning effort, his seventh career game surpassing the career rushing mark ... He also caught just his third career receiving TD ... All told, the Raeford, N.C., native has 24 career TDS (20 rush, 3 receiving, 1 kickoff return) with one career TD pass;

- The last time WCU had teammates post over 100 yards rushing (Newsome) and receiving (Robinson, Mathis) was against Furman on Nov. 7, 2015 when Newsome (184) and Steffon Hill (130) both went over 100 yards respectively;

- Western Carolina's defense held Gardner-Webb scoreless in the second half ... After Gardner-Webb tied the game at 14 with 11:01 left in the second quarter, the Catamounts scored 31 unanswered points ... the last time WCU pitched a second half shutout was in last year's home win over Mercer;
