Catamounts Win Home Opener Over Mars Hill, 52-31

Western Carolina defeated Mars Hill in its home opener, 52-31, at E.J. Whitmire Stadium.

2011 (Sophomore): Played in eight games making seven starts at quarterback including the first six games of the season ... Completed 119-of-224 pass attempts for 1,697 yards and 12 touchdowns, tossing 11 interceptions ... Went through the first two games and into his third - a combined 79 pass attempts -to start the season without an interception before having a deflected pass picked off at Georgia Southern ... Passed for 200-or-more yards in five of his six outings ... Completed a career-high 20 passes in the season opener at Georgia Tech ... Finished 17-of-29 for a career-high 322 yards against Mars Hill including tossing a career-long 75-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Mitchell ... Tossed a career-high three touchdown passes at home against Elon, finishing 12-of-29 for 231 yards - but also threw three picks ... Named WCU's offensive player of the game against nationally-ranked Appalachian State, throwing two TD passes and 188 yards ... Credited with one tackle following an interception against Elon ... Only threw five passes, completing two for eight yards in WCU's annual Spring Game.

2010 (Freshman): Played in five games on the season making two starts as a true freshman ... Completed 26-of-73 career passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns but tossed seven interceptions ... Made his collegiate debut against Chattanooga, completing his first pass to tight end Andrew Rogers for 26 yards and later tossing his first touchdown pass to Jacoby Mitchell in the fourth quarter vs. UTC ... Made his first career start at The Citadel, guiding WCU to the road 24-13 victory ... Completed a then career-best 10 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the win, finding seven different receivers ... Became the first true freshman to earn a starting nod for Western Carolina since Chad Greene who started for the injured Lonnie Galloway in a 27-24 victory over Chattanooga back in 1991 ... Earned Southern Conference Freshman of the Week plaudits following the road win at The Citadel ... Was the third WCU freshman or redshirt freshman quarterback to be honored by the league the week after his first career start - joining Zack Jaynes (2008) and Adam Hearns (2007) ... Did not see action in the final three games of the season ... Turnovers were his nemesis, tossing seven interceptions and losing the ball three of the four times he put it on the turf on fumbles.

Prior to Western: Earned the starting nod under center for his senior season at Montini Catholic High and head coach Chris Andriano ... Listed as a two-star prospect by ... Led MCHS to an Illinois state championship, earning MVP honors in the title game ... Was named first team All-State and All-Conference as well as All-Area in his final seasons as a prep ... Tied the state record for TD passes in a season with 43, while also matching the state record for longest touchdown pass at 99 yards ... During his senior season, threw for 377 yards and five touchdowns in only one half against Wisconsin perennial power, D.C. Everest ... Was named the top quarterback at the Ultimate 100 National Camp the summer prior to his junior season.
