Joshua Gibson Named SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week

Junior kicked four field goals, scored 14 points in road win at VMI

2017: Participated in spring drills ... Connected on both of his PAT attempts and added a successful 31-yard field goal during WCU's annual Spring Game.

Prior to Western Carolina: Transferred from Wake Forest University for Fall 2016, majoring in Engineering ... Starting kicker for four years at Robbinsville High School where he connected on 14 out of 18 field goals (72%) with longest field goal being 41 yds ... He also was 90% on PATs scoring 207 / 230 extra points ... During his senior year the Black Knights won the North Carolina 1A State Championship with a 16-0 undefeated season.

Personal: Is the son of Tony and Sandy Gibson ... His father, Tony, was placekicker for the Catamounts from 1984-87 as back up to All-American, Kirk Roach, before transferring to Mars Hill for 1988-89 seasons where he was starting placekicker and achieved Honorable Mention All-American.
