Ty Davis joined Dennis Wagner's staff at Western Carolina after spending five seasons at Missouri State as both a student-athlete and coaching intern. While at MSU, was coached by current WCU wide receivers coach, Andy Follet.

Originally from West Plains, Mo., Davis walked onto the University of Missouri football team before transferring to Missouri State as a fullback for the 2003 season before making the transition to defensive student intern for the 2004 and `05 seasons. In addition to assisting with MSU's defense, he was in charge of the game video crew which included taping both game and practices, film breakdowns for the coaching staff and charting plays associated with the film.

Davis graduated in 2006 with a degree in Social Studies Education from Missouri State and then received a graduate assistantship to continue to work with the football team.
