Brian Volz is in his fourth season with the Western Carolina football team, his first as the defensive assistant where he will assist with the outside linebackers. Volz spent the past two seasons as the defensive quality control where he was involved in film study, game break-down and assisting in the press box on game days.
Volz holds two degrees from Western Carolina University, earning a business management degree in 2013 and a second degree in marketing in 2015.
After receiving his first undergraduate degree from WCU, Volz worked for a year at Greensboro College coaching defensive line and long snappers before returning to Cullowhee. He returned to WCU and while pursuing his marketing undergrad degree, he worked as a student assistant with the WCU football team.
During his final two years as an undergraduate student at WCU, served as an assistant football coach with both the offensive and defensive lines at Smoky Mountain HS, while also an assistant coach with the wrestling team.
Originally from Granite Falls, N.C., Volz played prep football at South Caldwell HS.
