Prior to Western Carolina: Recorded 24 catches for 266 yards and a team-leading four receiving touchdowns in his final season at Franklin HS ... Was named to the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Football Team after ranking among the Western North Carolina leaders in receptions ... Came to camp as a wide receiver, but was converted to tight end ... Also played baseball as a prep, hitting .304 during his senior season with a 5.04 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched.
