Cullowhee, N.C. -
After seven days off for final exams, the Western Carolina men's basketball team will host The Citadel on Sunday (Dec. 18) for the teams' Southern Conference opener. Tipoff in the Ramsey Activity Center is set for 4 pm for WCU Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.
All of Western's faculty and staff will be admitted for free with their University IDs. And, upon arrival, do not forget to sign up for our timeout and halftime promotional contests, as they were created for your holiday enjoyment.
The Catamounts, fresh off a win over Conference USA's East Carolina, are 6-6 on the season and 4-1 in the RAC to date. The Citadel, who defeated Webber International on Thursday, enters the contest with a 6-3 record. Western, who has dropped eight of the last 11, trails 28-22 in the all-time series, which dates back to the Catamounts' entry into the league for the 1976-77 season.
After playing The Citadel, Western will play one additional game prior to Christmas, hosting Gardner-Webb on Dec. 22 at 7 pm in just the schools' fourth all-time meeting and first since 1973.
