Western Carolina red-shirt freshman Harouna Mutombo was named to the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout All-tournament team following Saturday night's championship game. The Pickering, Ontario native averaged 16.3 points per game for the Catamounts in tournament play.
WCU (3-2) finished 2-1 over the four-day event, finishing fourth out of the eight-team field.
In Thursday's opener against eventual tourney champion, San Diego State, Mutombo posted team-highs with 20 points and six rebounds to lead the Catamounts in the heart-breaking, one-point loss. Against Louisiana Tech, he finished with seven points and a pair of steals before posting his first career double-double with career-bests 22 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Northern Illinois.
Mutombo was named the Player of the Game following Saturday evening's win over the Huskies.
Western Carolina returns to action next Saturday, Dec. 6 at Kent State in Kent, Ohio at 7:00 pm.
