Anchorage, Alaska - Western Carolina was greeted with snow showers on its final day in its "winter wonderland." The day began with a team walk-through, continuing and building upon Friday night's introduction and preparation for Northern Illinois, followed by what has become a traditional breakfast at the Snow City Café.

As WCU headed for the Sullivan Arena, there was a Winter Storm Advisory in affect all day Saturday and through the night on Sunday. Forecasted snow accumulations of 6-to-11 inches through the day Saturday and Sunday are expected. Intermittent snow showers persisted as the team made its way to the arena around 12:30 pm local time, 4:30 pm ET.

Western Carolina (2-2) squares off against Northern Illinois (3-3) of the Mid-American Conference in the fourth-place game beginning at 2:00 pm local time, 6:00 pm back in the East. It is the first all-time meeting between the Catamounts and Huskies in men's basketball.

The Catamounts, 1-1 in the Shootout, have been paced by two different players as red-shirt freshman Harouna Mutombo scored a career-high 20 in the one-point loss to San Diego State, and true freshman Greg Avery scored a career-best 17 against Louisiana Tech.

Check back later tonight for a complete recap of today's game, as well as photos from the Sullivan Arena.
