Western Carolina Travels to Alaska for Great Alaska Shootout; Thursday's Opener to Air on WLOS-TV 13

Anchorage, Alaska - Departing Cullowhee in the early morning hours on Monday, the Western Carolina Catamount men's basketball team travelled across the country to Alaska for it's first-ever appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout.

On Tuesday, the Catamounts will continue both preparations for its Thursday night opener against San Diego State, while also taking in some of the sites of Anchorage and southeastern Alaska.

WCU juniors Brigham Waginger and Jake Robinson will be writing journal entries on the team's travel to and time in Alaska which will be posted on CatamountSports.com throughout the week. Be sure to check back for these blogs, as well as updated photo galleries.

Thursday night's Thanksgiving Day opener against San Diego State is scheduled to tip at 7:30 pm local time, 11:30 pm on the East Coast. Fans in Western North Carolina will be able to see the Catamounts LIVE following the late local news on WLOS-TV 13. In partnership with KCFT-TV Anchorage (channels 19 and 35), the Catamount-Aztec game will be broadcast to the WLOS viewing area.
