Western Carolina's Brandon Giles, Jake Robinson Named to NABC Division I All-District Teams

Huntington, W.Va. - Western Carolina seniors Brandon Giles and Jake Robinson have both been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 22 team for 2010, recognizing the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America. The 240 student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, April 3, at 11:00 am at Bracket Town in the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis, Ind., during the NABC Convention and NCAA Final Four. Giles and Robinson were both named All-Southern Conference by the SoCon Sports Media Association (SCSMA), with Giles also becoming just the fourth Catamount all time to garner All-SoCon accolades in three different seasons after being also garnering all-conference accolades from the league's head coaches. Giles (11.8 ppg) and Robinson (11.4 ppg) rank first and second, respectively, in leading WCU in scoring this season. The two are both members of Western's 1,000-point club. Western Carolina (22-11) visits former SoCon-member, Marshall (23-9) on Tuesday night in the opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Post-season Tournament. It is the first post-season appearance for the Catamounts since winning the 1996 SoCon Tournament championship and automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. Tip-off from the Cam Henderson Center is set for 7:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on the Catamount Sports Network and can be heard locally on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 in Cullowhee; 680 AM WRGC in Sylva; and 920 AM WPTL in Canton.
