Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina redshirt junior guard Trey Sumler was named to the 2013 Southern Conference All-Tournament team following the completion of the nation's oldest post-season tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center.

It is the second-straight season that Sumler landed on the honorary post-season tournament squad, also earning first-team accolades following last year's epic tournament run to the title game. He was just one of four players named to the 10-player team that did not play in the tournament championship game - and the lone member of the first team not to at least play in the semifinals.

Sumler is the seventh different Catamount to earn all-tournament team honors two-or-more times, and the second WCU player since 2010 joining former teammate, Harouna Mutombo. Sumler joins Greg Dennis (1980, 1981), Terry Boyd (1991, 1992), Frankie King (1994, 1995), Kevin Kullum (1995, 1996), Anquell McCollum (1994, 1995, 1996) and Mutombo (2010, 2011, 2012).

A native of Rocky Mount, N.C., Sumler averaged 26 points per game in WCU's two games in tournament action, scoring a game-high 27 in the first round victory over The Citadel before recording 25 in the quarterfinal match-up with the College of Charleston. He played 77 of a possible 80 minutes, shooting 20-of-36 (55.6%) from the floor including hitting five 3-pointers. He additionally averaged 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the two appearances on the court in Asheville.

Sumler joined two players from tournament-champion Davidson including Most Outstanding Performer, De'Mon Brooks, and Jake Cohen, as well as Adjehi Baru and Andrew Lawrence from runner-up College of Charleston on the first team.

Sumler finished up finished his third season with 1,439 career points, moving into 16th in school history in career scoring. He recorded 588 points in 2012-13, averaging a team and career-best 18.4 points per game for the Catamounts.
