Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina freshman forward Nick Aldridge was today named to the 16-member CollegeInsider.com Freshman Mid-Major All-America team as selected by NCAA Division I men's basketball coaches, NBA scouts and the web site's staff.

Aldridge was selected to both the All-Southern Conference and All-Freshman team by the league's head coaches - a sentiment that was echoed by the voting members of the SoCon Sports Media Association (SCSMA), which tabbed the South Webster, Ohio native first team all-league.

In the season-ending Southern Conference tournament, Aldridge averaged 22 points in two games including a game-high 24 against second-seeded Appalachian State. The South Webster, Ohio, native averaged six rebounds each game while posting three steals and three assists en route to garnering all-tournament accolades.

Aldridge finished third in the SoCon in scoring this season with a team-best 18.3 points per game average. He additionally ranked sixth in rebounding (7.0 rpg), fifth in offensive rebounds (2.57 rpg), seventh in defensive rebounds (4.43 rpg), seventh in steals (1.67 spg), 12th in minutes played (32.50 mpg) and 15th in field goal percentage (46.1%).

The frosh finished the season having scored in double-figures in 27 of the 30 games in which he played, closing the year with 20-consecutive, double-digit outings and twice tallying 30-points in a game. He also recorded six double-doubles in his first year for the Catamounts.
