Cullowhee, N.C. - Two great promotions, two outstanding basketball games, one big day. Western Carolina is set to host a basketball double-header this Saturday, Feb. 10 in the Ramsey Center. WCU will host Chattanooga at 1:30 pm in women's action, while the men entertain Georgia Southern at 4:00 pm with both games scheduled to be televised by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) with the men's game going live.

Saturday's promotions begin with the "Go Girls" Day for the women's game. As a part of the National Girls and Women in Sports (NGWS), all females will be admitted free of charge to the women's game. Teams from the Jackson County youth basketball group are scheduled to play at halftime of the first game.

The other promotion for Saturday is "Canton/Clyde Day," honoring our fans from both Canton and Clyde. Vouchers for FREE admission to BOTH games have been placed at the Canton Ingles, Union Hall (Smoky Mountain 507/Blue Ridge Paper), Angie's Dance Academy, The Enterprise-Mountaineer, Home Trust Bank in Clyde, Champoin Credit Union and Canton Mayor Pat Smathers' office. Again, fans must pick up these vouchers in advance to gain free admission. At halftime of the men's game, the Cherokee Jump Rope Team is scheduled to perform.

As an extra special treat, Western Carolina alums Tara Mull, who is a member of the Carolina Panthers' TopCat cheerleaders, and Monique Douglas, who dances with the Charlotte Bobcats Lady Cats dancers, will be on hand signing autographs and taking photos with fans - so be sure to bring your camera.

The Lady Catamounts (17-7, 11-2 SoCon) open the double-header by hosting the Chattanooga Lady Mocs (18-6, 11-2) in a battle for first-place in the Southern Conference with tip-off scheduled for 1:30 pm. The game will be tape delayed broadcast on Sunday at 6:30 pm on CSS with Tom Werme and Robin Muller commentating (available on Charter Media or Comcast Cable - check local listings). The two teams are tied with identical conference marks, with the winner taking a lead in the race for the top seed in the SoCon tournament.

WCU erased a six-point deficit over the final four minutes of the game to force overtime. The Lady Cats then outscored the Lady Mocs, 11-to-3, in the extra session to derail Chattanooga at the McKenzie Arena, 80-72, back on Jan. 13, snapping an eight-game losing skid to UTC. In the last meeting between the two schools in Cullowhee, it was the Lady Mocs rallying from a second half deficit, draining a 3-pointer with four seconds showing on the regulation clock cap the 11-point comeback to force OT. Chattanooga outscored WCU 12-to-3 over the extra five minutes to win, 77-68.

Chattanooga, which has won at least a share of the SoCon regular season title each of the past seven years, and Western have been two of the more dominant women's programs since 2004. WCU has played in the tournament final twice, capturing its lone championship in 2004-05, with UTC playing in the finals on two occasions, twice winning the title. Four of Western's eight wins in the all-time series have come in Cullowhee.

In the second game of the afternoon, the Larry Hunter-led Catamounts will look to snap an seven-game losing skid to the Georgia Southern Eagles (10-13, 3-9 SoCon) in their first and only regular season meeting. Tip-off for Saturday's second game is set for 4:00 pm LIVE on CSS with Tom Werme and Nate Ross commentating.

After snapping a four-game losing skid last Monday night at home against Wofford, Western (9-14, 6-6 SoCon) made it two wins in a row by rallying from down 11 in the first half to knock off The Citadel at the McAlister Fieldhouse last Saturday afternoon. The win on the road in Charleston snapped WCU's five-game drought against the Cadets in the Lowcountry. On Monday night, despite a career-high 39 points from SoCon Freshman of the Year candidate, Nick Aldridge, the Catamounts fell to the College of Charleston by 12, 76-64, at the Kress Arena.

Georgia Southern comes to Cullowhee having dropped three-straight, and seven of its last eight contests.

Fans are urged to come early and stay late to catch both games. Also, in the spirit of "Get in the `Whee," everyone is asked to wear purple to the games on Saturday.
