Cullowhee, N.C. - On Monday, February 7th, the Ramsey Activity Center will become beach front property as Western Carolina hosts it's annual Beach Night celebration, sponsored by Bojangle's and Ridenour, Lay, & Earwood, PLLC.

Fans are invited -- and encouraged -- to wear swimsuits, shorts, hula skirts, Hawaiian shirts, flip flops, sunglasses, etc. to the RAC as we countdown the days until the fun in the sun of summertime is upon us again. Cash prizes for the best dressed will be awarded.

Festivities kickoff with the Lady Catamounts hosting East Tennessee State at 5:00 pm. Western will look to avenge a 16-point loss the Lady Bucs (8-13, 5-6) handed it earlier this season in Johnson City. It is a critical match-up as it relates to the standings in the Southern Conference which will help determine the seeding in the rapidly approaching 2005 Southern Conference Basketball Championships.

Thirty minutes after the Lady Catamounts sink the ETSU sloop, the Catamount men's team will host arch-rival Appalachian State in a key Southern Conference North Division battle.

The Catamounts are coming off two tough road losses in the Palmetto State, falling to Furman last Monday and at the College of Charleston on Thursday. Western is riding a two-game winning streak in the Ramsey Center and will play Appalachian State (10-9, 4-5) for the first time this year. Western sophomore Kyle Greathouse torched the Mountaineers for 31 combined points in two meetings a year ago.

At halftime of the second game of the doubleheader, Bojangles will sponsor a wing eating contest.

Both games will be broadcast on the Catamount Sports Network. Steven Crumpler will carry the banner during the women's game with an air time of 4:45 pm. He'll give way to Steve White and Gary Ayers for the men's broadcast with an approximate air time of 7:15 pm for a slated 7:30 pm tip-off versus the Mountaineers.

The Catamount Sports Network can be heard locally on Western's campus station, WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 or online at www.WWCUFM.com. Fans can also access the men's broadcast online at www.CatamountSports.com, Western Carolina's official web site. The home for Catamount Sports will carry live game stats for each game, sponsored by the Catamount Travel Center. Fans can access these live updating stats by clicking on the Game Tracker link on the schedule at the bottom of the CatamountSports.com main page.
