Cullowhee, N.C. - Despite inclement weather, both the Western Carolina men's and women's basketball teams will be in action on Saturday, as will the Catamounts' men's and women's indoor track & field squad. However, due to inclement weather projected this evening, WCU's tennis team will not make its scheduled trip to Raleigh for the Cats' 2005 season opener.

The men's basketball team will host Elon on Saturday (Jan. 29) at 7:00 pm. Also on Saturday, Western Carolina will welcome back its former men's basketball players and coaches for the annual Alumni Weekend. An alumni game is scheduled for 5:00 pm with a reception to follow in the Ramsey Center. After the WCU-Elon game, all alumni as well as their family and friends are invited to a postgame social at The Grapevine in downtown Sylva. If you can not attend the Catamount-Phoenix game, you can follow the action by listening locally on WCU's 90.5 FM, listening via the internet on www.wwcufm.com and www.catamountsports.com or watching live stats via GameTracker on www.catamountsports.com.

The women's basketball team is on the road, facing the College of Charleston Saturday. Tip-off at Kresse Arena is set for 5 pm. WCU's 90.5 FM and www.wwcufm.com will broadcast the game from tip-off until 6:45, when it will be preempted by the men's basketball broadcast.

Western's indoor track & field teams will travel to Clemson, S.C., this weekend to take part in the Clemson Heptathlon/Pentathlon Championships for their third event of the indoor season.
