Western Carolina head basketball coach Larry Hunter and two of his student-athletes will be the in-studio guests tonight on "In the Litterbox," a weekly interactive sports talk show produced and aired on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5. The show airs tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 23) from 7:00 until 8:00 pm and can also be heard online at www.WWCUFM.com.
Hunter will be joined by Catamount sophomores Brandon Giles and Canton, N.C., native Jake Robinson. Giles currently leads WCU in scoring, averaging just under 14 points per game and nearly 18 per contest in conference play. Robinson moved into sole possession of 10th on Western's career 3-pointers made chart, three ahead of current WCU teammate Negus McKenna (Read McKenna's latest blog HERE).
Western Carolina hosts Elon in Southern Conference action this Thursday at 7:00 pm in the Ramsey Center. The Catamounts will look to avenge an early-season loss to the Phoenix, falling by 10, 59-49, back on Nov. 27 in the earliest-played Southern Conference opener in school history.
In its third season, "In the Litterbox" (ITL) spotlights Western Carolina Catamount athletics with discussion of events, as well as interviews with coaches, student-athletes and other Catamount personalities. The show is co-hosted by WCU student, Josh Thompson, of Lincolnton, N.C., and Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, Daniel Hooker, and is produced by station student general manager, Kyle McCurry.
WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 continues to serve as the Flagship Station of Catamount Athletics this season, broadcasting Catamount football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball. WWCU has also been a partner with WCU Athletics in broadcasting the SoCon Women's Soccer Championship and NCAA tournament appearance, as well as the first-ever Catamount Softball games two years ago continuing with both the softball and baseball SoCon tournaments.
