Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina men and women's basketball teams will both be on the road Monday night in Southern Conference action. Fresh off its road win at Chattanooga on Saturday, the Lady Catamounts visit Georgia Southern at 7:00 pm on Monday, while the Catamount men visit arch-rival Appalachian State at 7:30 pm in a battle for first-place in the SoCon's North Division.

Monday night's game at Appalachian is scheduled to be televised regionally on Fox Sports Net (FSN) South (check local listings; Mediacom channel 36 in Jackson County). Mike Hogewood and Cliff Ellis are the commentators for the broadcast, which will tip officially at 7:37 pm.

The Lady Catamounts have won three of the last four meetings with Georgia Southern, but have dropped 11 of the last 14 overall meetings played in Statesboro, Ga. Western rallied for a three-point, 65-62, victory in last year's meeting at Hanner Fieldhouse.

Unfortunately, there will be no Catamount Sports Network coverage of Monday night's game from Statesboro. However, fans can listen to the game broadcast by visiting www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com and clicking the "Free Live Audio" link and navigating to "women's basketball."

With back-to-back SoCon wins - including just its second victory all-time at Chattanooga - the Western Carolina Catamount men's team finds itself in a showdown for first place in the North Division on Monday night at Appalachian State. WCU has dropped four-straight to the Mountaineers overall and has suffered back-to-back defeats to the Apps in Boone.

Western is vying for a 5-1 start and sole possession of first place in the division after being tabbed fifth by both preseason polls. A 5-1 opening to the SoCon schedule would equal its best start ever, tying the mark set by the 1982-83 Catamounts.

Monday night's game will also be broadcast by the Catamount Sports Network and can be heard in Western North Carolina on WWCU-FM, Power 90dot5 in Cullowhee or online at www.WWCUFM.com.
