WCU head Coach Larry Hunter:
Coach Hunter on the game against Samford:
"I'm just really happy with the win. It was a hard fought ball game by both teams. I thought Samford competed very well as we knew that they would. I'm just really proud of our guys, especially without Trey out there. I thought Rhett Harrleson really handled the point well on both ends of the court offensively and defensively. And Mike Brown steps up and makes a big play for us there at the end, just knocked it down."
"I thought we were in control of the game; I thought what really won it for us was our defense. They were just 2-of 18 behind the 3-point line and they came in leading the league in 3-point field goal percentage at almost 38-percent as a team."
On Mike Brown's game-winning shot:
"It's hard to throw it in from the deep corner where we were. It was to him; we wanted throw it in to him in the middle of the floor. With that lineup we had out there, he's made some big shots for us this year. I just felt he had the strength and ability to take it to the hole with contact and get it in, and fortunately he did. It was just a great play."
On looking ahead to the Southern Conference Tournament:
"We have Trey back and that's going to be a plus for us. I thought he handled things well today, and the past few days. (The tournament) is wide open. There are a lot of good teams, a lot of parody. So it's going to a heck of a tournament and we're looking forward to playing in it."
Freshman guard Mike Brown
On hitting the game-winning shot:
"Coach called up the play and I was surprised because I really didn't think it would be for me. But, he called it for me. He told me to catch the ball and attack. I couldn't attack so I just jabbed (Raijon Kelly) and pulled up. I didn't really see it go in, but I'm glad it did."
