Spartans Pull Away From Catamounts In Second Half

Feb. 21, 2008

Box Score

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Kevin Oleksiak scored 19 points and UNC Greensboro pulled away in the second half for a 74-62 win over Western Carolina on Thursday.

Kyle Hines and Mikko Koivisto added 13 points apiece and Ben Stywall had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans (15-11, 9-8 Southern Conference), who bounced back from a loss at league-leader Davidson two days earlier.

Jake Robinson scored 16 points and Arnold Gore added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Catamounts (8-18, 4-12), who failed to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

UNC Greensboro broke a halftime tie and led 54-49 when Oleksiak hit a jumper and Koivisto followed with one of his four 3-pointers to make it a 10-point game with 6:23 left.

Western Carolina, which shot 41 percent, never recovered as UNC Greensboro won for only the second time in seven games.
