Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina Catamount baseball team continued its fall workouts on Tuesday, taking to the diamond at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium for a team instructional session. The team focused on base-running and bunting during the mid-afternoon practice.

The NCAA regulates a period of 45 days in which the team can have up to 30 practice dates during the off-season. WCU opened its fall sessions the weekend of Sept. 26-28.

Western and second-year head coach Bobby Moranda will take the show on the road, so to speak, this weekend as the Catamounts will host the first of two free youth clinics and intra-squad scrimmage sessions.

This Saturday, Oct. 11, WCU will be at Tuscola High in Waynesville, with a similar event to be held at Franklin High the following weekend (Oct. 18). The outing will include general instruction for youth, followed by a homerun derby among the Catamount sluggers. Festivities both days will culminate with an intra-squad scrimmage.

WCU Baseball will culminate its fall season on Hall of Fame Weekend, scheduled for Oct. 31 through Nov. 2. The program will host a special Alumni Golf Outing on Friday, Oct. 31 at the Maggie Valley Club, with former Catamount pitching great, Jason Beverlin, to be inducted in the Hall of Fame on Nov. 1.
