Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina continued its fall baseball practices this week including a two-hour session on Friday afternoon at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. The Catamounts have gone through six of 27 available practice dates thus far this off-season with plans to continue through intrasquad scrimmages both Saturday and Sunday.

After opening practice on Friday, Sept. 16, the team held a pair of intrasquad scrimmages through the opening weekend. In those games, four Catamounts had three-hit performances including a 3-for-5 with two stolen bases outing for Bradley Strong while Aaron Attaway had a double and a triple as a part of going 3-for-6. Redshirt freshman Austin Neary was also 3-for-6 with a double and a home run, driving in a team-high three RBI. Junior Luke Gragg was the fourth WCU player to finish with a trio of hits in the scrimmages last Saturday and Sunday.

In addition to Neary, Dale Urquhart Jr., homered on the weekend while senior infielder Tyler White finished 2-for-6 with a double.

On the mound, all of the pitchers with the exception of Jeremy Sluder have tossed at least an inning in game-like action to date this preseason.

Western Carolina head its annual scout day last Wednesday, Sept. 19 on-campus at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. A combined 22 scouts representing 22 Major League baseball teams, as well as the MLB scouting bureau were on campus to watch and evaluating the Catamounts' fall practice session.

Practice continues both Saturday and Sunday with intrasquad scrimmages. Practice begins at 10:00 am on Saturday morning and 11:00 am on Sunday.
