Cullowhee, N.C. - Former Western Carolina infielder Brent Greer was named the Northwest League Hitter of the Week as announced by the league office. The Manassas, Va., native was the 14th-round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks, selected with the 426th overall pick.
Greer went 11-for-22 (.500) last week, including a 4-for-5 game on Sunday at Everett which included three home runs and five RBI. Greer is currently hitting .358 with the Yakima (Wash.) Bears with six doubles, four home runs - all coming last week - and six runs driven in.

Corey Martin Moved to the Boise Hawks Short-Season Class-A Club
After making two appearances with the Chicago Cubs' Arizona League squad, former Catamount right-hander Corey Martin was moved to the Boise (Idaho) Hawks in the Northwest League. He made his debut for the short-season class-A club on July 1, tossing two innings of hitless, scoreless relief against the Tri-City (Wash.) Dust Devils.
Jared Burton Assigned to Louisville in the International League
Former Catamount hurler Jared Burton was assigned to the Cincinnati Reds' Triple-A squad, the Louisville Bats. He debuted last Friday, July 3. Burton has a 4.81 ERA through 33.2 innings in 29 appearances in the Majors this season. He has 25 strikeouts, but has struggled with 17 walks. In his first two appearances with the Bats, the Westminster, S.C., native has two innings of three-hit, one-run relief with two strikeouts.
