Cullowhee, N.C. -
After playing Furman three games this past weekend, the Western Carolina baseball team will return to the diamond on Wednesday (May 24) to face those same Paladins in the first round of the 2006 Southern Conference Championship. First pitch at Riley Park in Charleston, S.C., will be 10:00 am. If you can not attend, there are four ways to follow the action live.
Steve White and Daniel Hooker will be calling the action over the airwaves on WWCU (90.5 FM in Cullowhee). If you are out of the listening area, the broadcast can be heard over the internet on Power 90.5 FM.
Also, the Southern Conference will be offering live video streaming and live stats. There will also be an audio piece attached to the video stream, courtesy of the Southern Conference Sports Network. The service is a subscription service through SoCon.TV.
From the home page of www.SoConSports.com, there is a blue box that says SoCon.TV. If anyone is looking to subscribe, they would need to subscribe through the SoCon website. The cost for the entire tournament is $15.95 and for each day it is $5.95. The cost for the day includes all four games of the day. We will also be archiving the games online sometime after each day ends, depending on the length of games.
This is only for high speed internet users. The streaming does not work over the dial-up computers. Customers will need to have Windows Media Players to watch the event.
Also on the SoCon website (SoCon Baseball Championship Information), there is information on tickets as well as a complete schedule with live stat links for each contest.
