Cullowhee, N.C. - Pairings and game times for the 2008 Bennett Hofford Southern Conference Baseball Tournament have been set with the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday, May 17 with Western Carolina garnering the seventh seed. WCU will face No. 10 seed Davidson at Noon on Tuesday, May 20 in the opening, single-elimination game beginning at Noon in Charleston, S.C., at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park.

Western Carolina (28-26, 14-13 SoCon) finished tied for sixth-place in the overall standings with rival, Appalachian State (31-25, 14-13). However, because the Mountaineers took two-of-three from the Catamounts in Boone, ASU earned the higher seed and the opening round bye.

The double elimination portion of the tournament begins on Wednesday and runs through the championship game on Sunday May 25 at 2:00 pm and will be televised on Sportsouth on a tape delayed basis later that day.

Elon won the league's regular season title and earned the tournament's top seed. College of Charleston, which Western downed in the regular season finale, is the tournament's No. 2 seed followed by No. 3 Furman, No. 4, Georgia Southern, No. 5 UNC Greensboro, No. 6 Appalachian State, No. 7 Western Carolina, No. 8 The Citadel, No. 9 Wofford and No. 10 Davidson.
