Cullowhee, N.C. -
Game times for the Western Carolina-Oklahoma State baseball contests, set for April 29-30, have been moved to 7 pm (6 pm CT). Both games will be played in Stillwater, Okla., at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. Also, both games will broadcast locally on WWCU, 90.5 FM, by way of the Oklahoma State broadcasting crew.
Western Carolina and Oklahoma State have met on two previous occasions, both coming in the 1987 NCAA Mideast Regional, played at Mississippi State. The Catamounts, under the direction of current Clemson head coach Jack Leggett, lost to the Cowboys 6-3 in the first game of the regional and 9-6 in game nine.
In the first game, WCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, only to have OSU chip away and pull out the 6-3 win. Ray Ortiz hit two home runs and drove in two in the win. Western battled back, beating Purdue (8-7) and Mississippi State (8-1) to face the Cowboys once again, only to fall 9-6. Once again, WCU led 3-1 after five, but OSU scored six in the top of the sixth en route to the win.
Western will return to SoCon play this weekend, facing Wofford on May 3-4. Saturday (May 3) will be a Noon doubleheader at Duncan Park, with Sunday being a single game set for 1:30 pm.
