April 24, 2006

Cullowhee, N.C. - Due to having a game postponed earlier this season, the Western Carolina baseball team has added a game to its 2006 schedule, playing at the University of Georgia on Tuesday (April 25). First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. and Georgia has deemed the game "Fan Appreciation Day," meaning admittance is free.

Western Carolina plans to start junior RHP Tyler Johnson (2-1, 4.41) while the Bulldogs will have a staff night starting with freshman left-hander Jason Leaver (1-1, 5.06).

Western traveled to Athens earlier this season (Mar. 15) and lost 11-0. That game capped a long road trip for the Catamounts and gave WCU a 6-9 record to start the season. However, Western bounced back from that loss to win nine straight and 12 of its next 14, including an upset win over #7 Clemson.

Western will turn around to play at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, with first pitch set for 3:00 pm, then host Southern Conference foe Davidson for a three-game, weekend series. Also be reminded, that earlier this season, Western added a game with Tennessee which was not previously scheduled. The Catamounts will face the Volunteers on May 10 at 7:00 pm in Knoxville.
