Catamount Diamond Notes:
- Western Carolina went 4-0 last week, sweeping the midweek, home-and-home series from Gardner-Webb by rallying for a 9-6 home win on Wednesday before sweeping Georgia Southern in Cullowhee ... It was the first home series win over Georgia Southern since 2007 and the first three-game sweep of the Eagles since 2003 for the Catamounts;

- WCU has swept back-to-back weekend SoCon series, stretching its current winning streak to seven-straight games while having won eight-straight league games ... the seven-game win streak is WCU's longest since taking eight-straight from April 29 through May 10 of the 2008 season;

- The Catamounts have won at least two games in six of their seven SoCon series this spring, scoring two sweeps in a single-season for the first time since 2010 ... WCU's consecutive series sweeps are its first since the 2008 season when it swept both Wofford and The Citadel, part of the aforementioned eight-game win streak;

- WCU swept the SoCon's Weekly Awards as Jeremy Null was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Week and Adam Martinwas dubbed the Player of the Week ... Null was additionally named a "Louisville Slugger" National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball for the second time this season, striking out a career-high 14 in Friday's series-opening win ... Martin batted .727 (8-for-11) with five extra base hits and four walks for a .800 on-base percentage ... Martin was additionally named the College Sports Madness SoCon Player of the Week;

- Western Carolina was an honorable mention for Team of the Week through;

- Western Carolina hit .354 as a team last week including posting .349 collective average in its three-game sweep of Georgia Southern ... the Catamounts had 20 extra base hits including 14 doubles, a triple and five home runs while its two opponents - Gardner-Webb and Georgia Southern - combined for just eight extra base hits with six doubles, a triple and a home run ... All told, WCU out-slugged its opponents .569-to-.343 and did not strikeout in Saturday's win;

- WCU has moved into a tie for the SoCon lead with a .302 collective team batting average while also pacing the league with a .465 slugging percentage ... WCU has a SoCon-best 455 hits (5th in NCAA) including 16 more doubles than the second-place team at 106 - a mark that currently LEADS the NCAA ... the Catamounts have 39 home runs to rank tied for second in the SoCon, tied for seventh in the NCAA;

- Led by Adam Martin's .727, six Catamounts hit .400-or-better on the week ... Tyler White finished 7-for-15 (.467) with three doubles ... Dale Urquhart Jr., finished 4-for-7 (.571) mostly in a pinch hit role ... Julian Ridings and Aaron Attaway both went .412 (7-for-17) with six of Ridings' hits going for extra bases including three homers, two doubles and a triple with a team-best nine RBI ... Bradley Stronghit an even .400 (6-for-15);

- Aaron Attaway ranks tied for ninth in the country with 64 base hits with Tyler Whitejust behind him in a tie for 12th with 63 base knocks ... White's 19 doubles on the season rank him tied for fifth in the NCAA;

- Preston Hatchercollected decisions in all three appearances on the week, winning once and tallying two saves ... the Atlanta, Ga., native tossed four innings out of the bullpen, scattering three hits without giving up a run ... He struck out four against two walks on the week ... Collectively, WCU's pitching staff went 4-0 with a 3.75 ERA with 45 strikeouts against 15 walks;

- Western Carolina returned to the's Mid-Major Poll this week on the heels of its second-straight SoCon series sweep, ranking in at No. 25 to halt a seven-week absence ... the Catamounts returned to "Others Receiving Votes" status following its three-game sweep of Samford ... The Catamounts opened the season ranked 14th in the poll, advancing six positions after taking 2-of-3 from Washington State on opening weekend to rank eighth ... A season ago, WCU did not appear in the poll until week three, topping out at 17th on April 2nd.

Catamount Career Charts Watch:
- WCU closer Preston Hatcher WCU picked up his ninth and 10th saves of the year last week, scoring the latter in Sunday's win over GSU ... Hatcher moved into a tie for SECOND on WCU's single-season charts with 10 saves while his 20 career saves now rank him tied for SECOND in the school's record books, tied with former relievers Mike Manning (1991-94) and David Ray Robinson (1980-83) ... Hatcher is just two saves shy of the school's career record holder, Ryan Fosterwho had 22 saves from 2000-03;

- Hatcher additionally moved into 10th in school history with 78 career appearances;

- Senior infielder Tyler Whitehas moved into EIGHTH in school history with 808 career at bats ... He also ranks 15th with 259 career hits, tied for 8th with 56 career doubles (matching Matt Raleigh, 1989-92) ... White is also tied for 5th having been hit by 35 pitches during his WCU career;

- Junior RHP Jordan Smith moved into 15th in the school ledgers for career strikeouts with 186, by-passing Jerry Reed (16th with 184 K's, 1974-77) and Seth Foster(17th with 181 K's 2000-03) ... Smith's 39 career starts over the last three seasons rank him 12th on the career ledger.

This Week in Catamount Baseball:
- Western Carolina plays five games this week with two midweek game ... WCU wraps up its nine-game home stand by hosting Kennesaw State on Tuesday night at 5:00 pm in Cullowhee in the front-end of a nonconference home-and-home, returning to Kennesaw, Ga., on May 1 ... the Catamounts also travel to Clemson for the back-end of a midweek home-and-home against the Tigers on Wednesday night ... WCU returns to league play with a three-game series at UNCG this weekend;

- WCU split last season's two meetings with Kennesaw State with the visiting team winning both ... WCU is 7-4 all-time against the Owls including a 3-2 mark all-time in Cullowhee having dropped back-to-back meetings in 2011 and '12;

- Western Carolina rallied to erase a six-run deficit with a six-run explosion in the bottom of the seventh inning back on April 9 vs. Clemson ... However, the 17th-ranked Clemson Tigers plated three runs in the top of the ninth inning to upend the Catamounts, 12-9, in front of 1,373 fans at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium ... the Tigers out hit WCU, 14-12, with Aaron Attawaygoing 4-for-5 to led WCU and Jon McGibbon going 4-for-4 for Clemson;

- The Catamounts travel to UNCG this weekend for a three-game set ... WCU took 2-of-3 from the Spartans in Cullowhee a year ago, winning both games in a Saturday doubleheader before falling on Sunday ... WCU was swept by UNCG in the most recent Greensboro meetings on March 11-13, 2011 ... the Spartans outscored the Catamounts, 25-to-14 in the three games in the Piedmont Triad.
