Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina Department of Athletics will donate half the proceeds from ticket sales on Friday night to the Community Table of Sylva as the Catamount baseball team hosts Southern Conference rival UNC Greensboro at 7 pm. Not only will half the proceeds go to the Community Table, but a booth will be set up at the entrance to take any further donations.

"This area does a wonderful job supporting our student-athletes so the student-athletes adopted the Community Table as a way of giving their time and effort back to the region," said WCU senior associate athletics director Hunter Yurachek. "Friday's fundraiser will help in this worthwhile organization's continuing effort to provide a free and valuable service to people of need in the area."

The Community Table of Sylva has been the beneficiary of similar efforts by the WCU Department of Athletics over the past three years. Also, WCU student-athletes have volunteered throughout the academic year, preparing and serving food to people of need in the area.

Firday's game is also "Hula Hoopin' at Hennon" night. The first 50 people in the stadium Friday will receive a gift bag of goodies and there will be a hula hoop contest for anyone who wants to enter. Prizes will be given to all who participate in the contest.

The Cats will also host the Spartans on Saturday at 4 pm and Sunday at 1 pm. After the game Sunday, as part of Little League Baseball Day, local kids will be allowed on the field to run the bases.
