Western Carolina will travel to Clemson, S.C., today to complete a game started on April 12 at 5:00 pm and play a regularly-scheduled, nine inning game at 7:15 or 30 minutes afterward. Both games will be broadcast locally on WWCU FM (90.5 FM in Cullowhee) and on the internet on the campus' radio website (www.wwcufm.com) as well as having up-to-the-batter statistics and play-by-play via GameTracker on www.catamountsports.com.
At 5:00 pm, Western, who will be the home team, will start the contest down 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth with runners on first and third, no outs and an 0-1 count on Barrett Shaft. Western will continue to pitch freshman left hander Jon Kibler, who had pitched 0.2 innings before the game was halted. Clemson will counter with Stephen Faris. Faris is the reigning Atlantic Coast Conference pitcher of the week and leads the nation with a 0.79 ERA. The sophomore is 3-1 on the season with 41 strikeouts, a save and is holding opponents to an ACC-low .164 batting average.
Game two will start at either 7:15 pm pr 30 minutes after the completion of the halted game. Western is scheduled to start junior lefty Brandon McDowell (2-0, one save, 8.53 ERA), while Clemson is scheduled to start redshirt freshman, right-handed pitcher P.J. Zocchi, who has yet to pitch this season.
