Catamount Diamond Notes:
- Western Carolina went 3-2 last week, falling midweek at Wake Forest before rallying in the ninth inning to upend Gardner-Webb on the road, ending a two-year winless (0-1-1) drought against the Runnin' Bulldogs ... the Catamounts had to score four in the top of the ninth to pick-up the come-from-behind victory;

- WCU took its third-straight regular season series from The Citadel over the weekend, winning by a run, 7-6 on Friday before getting a walk-off hit by Aaron Attaway to score the series victory in game one of the Saturday double-header, winning 5-4 ... the Bulldogs salvaged the final game of the series, winning by the same one-run margin;

- Infielder Austin Neary led the Catamounts in hitting last week, going 7-for-19 for a .368 average with three extra base hits including two doubles and a home run ... Aaron Attaway drove in a team-high five RBI to pace the squad, just ahead of Jacob Hoyle who hit .300 with three hits, plating four;

- Combined, WCU out-slugged its opponents last week, .419-to-.339 ... WCU had 18 extra base hits including 13 doubles as a team while its three foes only had eight extra base hits, four doubles, one triple and three homers ... Dykota Spiess hit his first home run of the season with White and Neary also homering;

- On the mound, both Jeremy Null and Hunter Brister picked up their team-high tying third wins of the season ... Closer Preston Hatcher recorded two saves on the week in addition to a 1-0 record ... Morgan McKinney matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts in his Saturday start while Jordan Smith was perfect through three innings, limiting The Citadel to just three hits through 6.2 innings, both factoring in no-decisions in the doubleheader;

- Brister had one of the gutsiest appearances of the week, coming out of the bullpen to strike out the side swinging with the bases loaded to help preserve a WCU lead in the 7-6 series-opening victory ... Brister fanned a career-high four in the victory;

- WCU was without catcher Adam Martin over the weekend due to a broken finger on his catching hand ... the Catamounts potentially could have the junior back for the Furman series in a limited role;

Catamount Career Charts Watch:
- WCU closer Preston Hatcher picked up his seventh save of the year on Friday giving him 17 for his four-year career ... He moved into a tie for NINTH in WCU's single-season record book with seven seasonal saves and is now FIFTH all-time in WCU's career record books by-passing Ward Withrow who had 16 saves from 1987-88 ... This Week in Catamount Baseball:
- Western Carolina plays a mid-week nonconference "home-and-home" with UNC Asheville this week, hosting the Bulldogs on Tuesday at 5 pm before facing the same UNCA squad at historic McCormick Field - home of the minor league Asheville Tourists - in Asheville on Wednesday ... the Catamounts look to halt a series-long, three-game slide to UNCA this week, falling in the only meeting a year ago, 3-1, in 12 innings at McCormick Field;

- WCU travels to Latham Park in Greenville, S.C., on the campus of Furman University for a three-game SoCon set over the weekend - 6 pm, 4 pm and 1 pm ... the Catamounts swept the Paladins in Cullowhee last season before falling to Furman in the SoCon Tournament, 9-8, to end the season ...
