Weekly Honors Continue to Roll in for WCU's Jeremy Null

Cullowhee, N.C. - National honors continued to flood in for Western Carolina junior right-hander Jeremy Null following his season-opening performance in the Catamounts' 3-2 road win over No. 2 Mississippi State last Friday.

Null, who fanned 12 bulldog batters over eight innings without allowing a run, was among five collegiate baseball players recognized by the NCAA in its Top Performers from Week 1, while also garnering National Pitcher of the Week plaudits from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). The Claremont, N.C., product moved into a tie for 16th in career strikeouts, matching former Catamount and MLB veteran, Jerry Reed with 184 K's.

Opening Weekend to Remember

Western Carolina (1-2) opens the home portion of its 2014 schedule on Tuesday afternoon in Cullowhee by hosting the Winthrop Eagles (2-0) at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. It is the front-end of a regular season home-and-home with the Catamounts slated to travel to Rock Hill, S.C., on April 15. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

The game is scheduled to be broadcast on the Catamount Sports Network with streaming audio (free) and video through Catamount All-Access (subscription fee) with a 3:45 pm air time. Fans can also follow the game with live GameTracker (free) through CatamountSports.com.
