Cullowhee, N.C. - Friday night's Western Carolina-Georgia Southern baseball game was suspended in the bottom eighth inning, with the Eagles leading 15-4, due to rain and lightening at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium. The game will resume on Saturday (April 23) at 4:00 pm with the Catamounts having two outs and runners on first (Jonathan Greene) and third (Blake Murphy) and an 0-0 count to Jason Haynes.

The Eagles scored in six of their eight innings, including a four-run second and four-run eighth, scoring their 15 runs on 15 hits. Of the 15 hits, 10 went for extra bases, including six doubles, three triples and a home run. Georgia Southern catcher Flint Wipke is a single away from the cycle while Logan Phillips has five RBI, going 3-for-4 at the plate.

For the Catamounts, Blake Murphy came off the bench and is 2-for-2 to lead the way, while Jared Greenwood hit a two-run home run.

Thirty minutes after the completion of the suspended game, Western will host the Eagles for its regularly-scheduled Saturday evening game.
